Druk Path Trek - Paro to Thimphu 7 Days
The most popular short trek in Bhutan: five days walking through blue pine forest, alpine lakes, and yak pastures between the Paro and Thimphu valleys, with a maximum altitude of 4,235 m at Labana La.
About this trip
The Druk Path is the trek we recommend to first-time Himalayan trekkers. The route covers about 54 km over five trekking days, crossing several ridges between Paro and Thimphu while staying above the tree line for two nights at alpine lakes (Jimilang Tsho is stocked with golden brown trout). The trail is well-defined, the camps are comfortable, and we build two acclimatization nights at low altitude before climbing. Maximum altitude is 4,235 m at Labana La pass. Best between mid-March and mid-May or late September through November; absolutely avoid monsoon and deep winter. Pony or yak support included.
